World tennis legend, Andy Murray, suffered an ankle injury during a match at the Miami Open.

The match against Tomas Machac in the third round of the tournament lasted more than three hours. As a result, Murray lost in the deciding set on a tie-break.

After the match, the British tennis player was optimistic about his injury. However, he soon claimed that he had suffered a tear in the ligaments of his ankle.

"Goes without saying this is a tough one to take and I’ll be out for an extended period. But I’ll be back with 1 hip and no ankle ligaments when the time is right," Murray wrote on his instagram page.

Tentatively, the tennis player's recovery will take about two months. The exact timeline will be known later.

Andy Murray, 36, has won three Grand Slam tournaments: the US Open 2012, Wimbledon 2013 and Wimbledon 2016.
