Barcelona and Spain legend Gerard Piqué has stated that he considers Manchester City's head coach Pep Guardiola and Arsenal's Mikel Arteta to be the most worthy candidates to replace Xavi Hernandez in the managerial seat of the Spanish champions. It is worth noting that Xavi announced in January that he would leave the team at the end of the season.

Piqué mentioned that Guardiola could return to Barcelona once his contract with Manchester City expires in 2025, as he believes that the fans anticipate the return of the Spanish coach to the team. During an interview with The Times, Piqué remarked:

"To manage Barcelona, one must be a coach of a certain type and understand how the team plays, so the options are much fewer. The obvious ones are Guardiola because he has his past here, and he is the best coach at the moment. Also, Arteta. He would also be a good coach. He understands Barcelona and previously played for Barça."

When Piqué was asked if he truly believes that Guardiola will return to the club, he added:

"You'll have to ask him. I still occasionally talk to him. I'm sure he and people from Barcelona would like to see him here."

As a reminder, Pep Guardiola coached Barcelona from 2008 to 2012. During his tenure with the Catalan club, he won La Liga three times and claimed the Spanish Super Cup as many times. Under his guidance, the club also won the Copa del Rey and the UEFA Champions League twice each, along with the UEFA Super Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup twice each.

Let us remind you that today we reported that Pique proposed making a fundamental change to the football rules.
