The legendary Argentine has decided to stay at his current club
Legendary Argentine winger Ángel Di María has decided not to move to MLS or Saudi Arabia this summer. According to Fabrizio Romano, Di María has agreed to extend his contract with Benfica for one more season. It is likely that this will be the last season of the 36-year-old footballer's career.
Earlier reports suggested that Di María was close to joining Inter Miami, where his legendary compatriot Lionel Messi plays, but the parties failed to agree on a contract. Benfica initially wanted to keep Di María for another season and offered him favorable terms.
Di María played for Benfica from 2007 to 2010 and returned to the Portuguese club in the summer of 2023 after a successful career with Real Madrid, Manchester United, and PSG.
In the past season, Di María scored 17 goals and provided 15 assists in 48 matches across all competitions.
