The upcoming season could prove truly historic for Atlético Madrid. According to AS, the 2026/27 campaign is highly likely to be Diego Simeone's last as head coach of the Colchoneros.
The Argentine manager's current contract runs until the summer of 2027, but so far, there have been no talks about an extension. This means the upcoming season could mark the end of one of the most successful managerial eras in the club's history.
Let us recall that Simeone took charge of Atlético in December 2011 and, over fourteen and a half years, completely transformed the team's status. Under his leadership, Los Rojiblancos have become one of Europe's elite, winning La Liga twice, regularly competing in the Champions League, and reaching the tournament's final on two occasions.
