One of the most decorated and popular teams in the National Basketball Association, the Los Angeles Lakers, is in search of a new head coach. Earlier, we reported that the Lakers are preparing a significant long-term contract for Dan Hurley.
Journalist John Fant explained why the Lakers turned their attention to Dan Hurley's candidacy, even though JJ Redick was previously considered the leading candidate for the head coaching position.
"I think the key factor here, based on conversations with people in the industry I've spoken to, is that at some point several Lakers players, aside from LeBron James, expressed a liking for JJ Redick but were not sure if he was the right fit as a coach. I think this prompted Rob Pelinka and Jeanie Buss to continue their search, and eventually, when they revisited Hurley, his initial interest intensified, and he wanted to discuss this possibility," - Fant said.
It was previously reported that LeBron would like to see Redick as the head coach.
