England lost to Spain in the final of the 2024 European Championship with a score of 1-2. The King of the United Kingdom wrote a letter to the Three Lions' head coach, Gareth Southgate.
Charles III urged the team and the coaches to keep their heads held high. He also mentioned that reaching the Euro 2024 final is a significant achievement that the entire nation should be proud of.
"Victory eluded us tonight, but my wife and I ask you and your team to keep your heads held high! Everyone who participates in sports competitions at any level knows how painful the result can be when victory was so close.
But please know that your success in reaching the Euro 2024 final is a tremendous achievement that the nation should be proud of, and I have no doubt that we will continue to support the Three Lions and that triumphs await us in the future," wrote the King of the United Kingdom.
On a related note, England's manager Gareth Southgate was asked about his future. He stated that now is not the right time to discuss it publicly and that he first needs to have meetings with the management.
