Italian champions Inter Milan attempted to sign Real Madrid goalkeeper Andriy Lunin but have decided to abandon the pursuit.

According to Calciomercato.com, the Nerazzurri were closely monitoring the Ukrainian shot-stopper. However, the club was deterred by reports suggesting Lunin is close to signing a new contract with Real Madrid.

Despite this setback, Inter continues their search for a replacement for Yann Sommer. They have shortlisted three candidates: Bento Krepski from Atlético Paranaense, Josep Martínez from Genoa, and Maduka Okoye from Udinese.

Previously, it was reported that Juventus had also shown interest in Lunin, with preliminary talks taking place between the player's representatives and the Turin club.

Lunin successfully deputized for Thibaut Courtois during his injury spell and helped the team reach the Champions League final. However, Lunin did not play in the final, which might influence his future at the club.

There have been claims from Lunin's camp that he is being treated unfairly at Real Madrid, which could lead him to reconsider signing a new contract with the club.
