The iron hand is back! Mourinho brings army rules to Real
The Special One is turning the Bernabéu into a barracks.
Details: According to Diario AS, José Mourinho has introduced a new set of rules at Real Madrid, aiming to transform the club’s culture. Among the changes: a strict nutritional regime with fixed menus for breakfast and snacks, mandatory arrival at Valdebebas one hour before training, and sanctions for lateness regardless of a player's status.
The standout feature of the Portuguese manager’s disciplinary system is a move away from monetary fines: latecomers are now required to do solitary strength training, separated from the group. Injured players must undergo rehabilitation at the club’s facilities in the morning and afternoon, and while personal trainers are allowed, it’s strictly under the supervision of the club’s staff. The system is rounded off by a rule mandating joint meals—players and coaches must dine together at Valdebebas.
Mourinho summed up his return to Real after 13 years with these words: “Don’t just work at Real—work for Real.” His first official match of his second spell comes against Real Sociedad in La Liga’s opening round, August 15-16.
