Benin’s Cheetahs will indeed be travelling to Argentina during the next international break.

As announced earlier today, the Benin national team will play an international friendly against the 2022 FIFA World Cup champions. The match was confirmed by the Argentine Football Association on Tuesday 15 September.

The match is scheduled for Tuesday 6 October 2026 at the Monumental Stadium in Buenos Aires. This will be the first-ever meeting between the two sides. Benin and Argentina have never faced each other in an official match.

Benin will be the second African nation that Argentina face during the upcoming international break. Before taking on the Cheetahs, the Albiceleste will face Burkina Faso on Saturday 3 October at the Monumental Stadium.

Benin will travel to Argentina after having played their first two matches in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. The Cheetahs will face Burkina Faso on 25 September in Ouagadougou on matchday one, before hosting Mauritania on 29 September on matchday two.
