The head of England's refereeing body stated that he sees no point in rejecting VAR
Former English referee and current head of the Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL) in England, Howard Webb, expressed his opinion on whether VAR should be scrapped. The functionary said that it would be stupid to refuse VAR, his words are reported by the BBC.
"The official stated that it would be foolish to abandon VAR, citing almost 40 instances during this season where clear errors had been rectified. Webb highlighted around 100 situations typically corrected using VAR and questioned why anyone would want to remove a tool that corrects errors.
We are always looking at ways to improve the application of VAR. I understand that delays can be frustrating, but sometimes they are unavoidable when you're diligently doing your job.
It protects the game from clear errors, and I don't think many referees would want to be without VAR in crucial matches," - Webb said.
It's worth noting that there have been several controversies in the Premier League this season related to decisions made by referees after VAR reviews.
