In yesterday's opening match of the 24th round of the German Bundesliga, Bayern Munich once again dropped points, drawing with Freiburg (2:2). Although the German champions conceded a goal in the 87th minute, it was very difficult to surrender the advantage to them, and there were no signs that Thomas Tuchel's team was aiming to challenge Bayer Leverkusen's leadership.

During an interview with ESPN, Tuchel criticized his team:

"Horrendous thirty minutes [in the first half] from us. We played decently for no more than 10-15 minutes in the first half. The second half was better, with significant moments, and a better mood. We showed much better discipline overall. We could have won, but we failed to defend the throw-in from the side [which led to Freiburg's second goal], as it should have been, to secure the victory. Overall, judging by the first half, we didn't deserve to win."

Bayern Munich trails Bayer Leverkusen by seven points, with the "pharmacists" set to play their 24th round match against Cologne tomorrow and could extend their lead to ten points. With each point dropped by Bayern Munich, their return to the top of the league table seems increasingly unlikely. Meanwhile, Bayer Leverkusen is edging closer to their first-ever championship title.
