Yesterday, the group stage of Euro 2024 concluded for Group C with two goalless draws in the matches between England and Slovenia, and Denmark and Serbia.
As a result, the teams in this group tied an astonishing negative record. Across six group stage matches, they collectively scored only 7 goals.
This low goal tally matches the record set by Group C at Euro 2016, which included Germany, Poland, Northern Ireland, and Ukraine.
Additionally, for the first time in the history of the European Championships, only one team managed to win a match in their group, with the other 5 games ending in draws.
To recap, England advanced to the Round of 16 as group winners, and Denmark, despite being level on points with Slovenia, edged them out based on tiebreakers. However, Slovenia still progressed to the playoffs as one of the best third-placed teams.
