The German national football team is going through a tough crisis after being eliminated from the 2026 World Cup already at the round of 16 stage.

Details: According to RMC Sport, following a disappointing defeat in the penalty shootout, the position of current head coach Julian Nagelsmann has become extremely precarious. Despite the 38-year-old specialist refusing to resign voluntarily, the leadership of the German Football Association (DFB) is leaning towards ending their cooperation with him in the near future.

Amid the possible dismissal of Nagelsmann, Jürgen Klopp is being named as the leading contender for the vacant position. The former Liverpool manager is reportedly enthusiastic about the prospect of leading the national team. Even though Klopp currently holds the post of global director of football within the Red Bull system, his contract is said to contain a special clause allowing him to terminate the agreement to take charge of the German national team.

At the moment, no official negotiations have taken place between Klopp's representatives and the DFB. The coach himself, who is currently in the USA working as a television pundit, remains silent on the matter out of respect for Nagelsmann's current status. However, according to Sky Sport, a decision regarding the future of the German team could be made as early as this Thursday.

Reminder: Former midfielder Toni Kroos slammed the German national team after their exit.
