Yesterday, within the framework of the 26th round of the French Ligue 2, Bordeaux visited Guingamp.

Already in the 34th second of the match, an unfortunate incident occurred when the winger of the home team, Albert Elis, collided head-on with the opponent's defender, Donovan Gomis.

Following this, there was a pause lasting about eight minutes while medical assistance was provided to Elis. Subsequently, amidst ovations from the spectators, he left the field and was urgently transported to the hospital.

After the incident, Bordeaux issued a statement, stating:

"Albert Elis has been taken to the hospital for medical examination. We wish him a speedy recovery."

Subsequently, the French press reported that he had been placed in an artificial coma in the hospital due to a "severe head injury" following a head examination. It is asserted in the messages that the player's family is by his side in the hospital after the recent events.

After the match, Bordeaux's head coach stated:

"I have spoken with the doctor, and at the moment, we cannot provide any updates on this matter. Currently, he is in the hospital."

Elis's teammates dedicated the victory over Guingamp (1:0) to Albert Elis and express their full support for him.

Elis joined Bordeaux from Portuguese side Boavista in 2021 and has played 60 matches for the team. In the current season, he has scored five goals. Additionally, Albert Elis has represented his national team in 64 matches, scoring thirteen goals.
