French biathlete Lu Jeanmonnot announced on her Instagram that she has contracted the coronavirus.

The athlete revealed that three weeks of fluctuating emotions culminated in a COVID-19 diagnosis. She will not be participating in the upcoming races. Jeanmonnot's primary goal is to return to the mass start. As a reminder, the third stage of the Biathlon World Cup for the 2023/2024 season is scheduled to take place from December 14 to 17. The mass start, to which Jeanmonnot aspires to return, is set for December 17.

Lu Jeanmonnot gained prominence in the previous season. Overall, she gradually approached participation in the World Cup, but initially determined her place in the main lineup based on the results of less prestigious competitions. Jeanmonnot is the overall winner of the IBU Cup for the 2021/2022 season and has won four medals at the Junior World Championships, including an individual gold medal. The French biathlete also secured a bronze medal in the pursuit at the Youth Olympics in 2017.

In the current season, the French biathlete has already achieved two victories in the first stage of the World Cup held in Ostersund, Sweden, winning both the sprint and pursuit races. Currently, Lu is in the second position in the overall standings of the Biathlon World Cup for the 2023-24 season.
