The Ukrainian football club Dnipro-1, which represented the country in European competitions for the past two seasons, is on the brink of dissolution.

Due to financial issues, Dnipro-1 did not submit an application to participate in the new season of the Ukrainian Premier League, and most clubs voted for its exclusion from the league in a recent meeting.

Interestingly, Dnipro-1 was supposed to start in the second round of the Conference League qualifiers against Puskás Akadémia this season. However, it seems likely that the Hungarian club will advance automatically since Dnipro-1 has not even begun pre-season preparations.

According to Transfermarkt, there are currently only nine players under contract with Dnipro-1. The club has already ceased funding its local academy and women's team.

Dnipro-1 was founded only in 2015 and, on paper, has no connection to the defunct FC Dnipro, which previously played successfully in European competitions and even reached the final of the 2014/15 Europa League.

Notably, Girona striker Artem Dovbyk previously played successfully for Dnipro-1. He transferred from the club to Girona in the summer of 2023 for €7.75 million and became the top scorer in La Liga last season with 24 goals.
