The FA is demanding a lifetime ban for Manchester City's transfer target

The English Football Association has charged West Ham midfielder Lucas Paqueta with four attempts to deliberately receive yellow cards, which is linked to betting on those warnings.

It is reported that football authorities have brought charges over the Brazilian's warnings in four matches:

• West Ham 0-2 Leicester (12 November 2022) - Paqueta receives a yellow card from referee Jarred Gillett for an attack on Boubacari Soumare.
• West Ham 1-1 Aston Villa (12 March 2023) - Paqueta is sent off for punching John McGinn moments after colliding with Douglas Luiz.
• West Ham 3-1 Leeds (21 May 2023) - Paqueta cynically trips Cricencio Summerville as the Dutchman attempts a counter-attack.
• Bournemouth 1-1 West Ham (12 August 2023) - Paqueta handles the ball in stoppage time, jumping out for a header.

Paqueta's yellow cards have coincided with an abnormal amount of betting on the Brazilian receiving a caution in a particular match.

The bets themselves are small, having been placed in the region of 60 people at between seven and £400, with winnings totalling £100,000. Despite this, the FA, according to The Sun, is demanding a lifetime suspension of Paqueta from football.

Recall that the Brazilian was considered as a transfer target for Manchester City last summer, but due to an investigation over betting, Paqueta's move to Pep Guardiola's team is no longer being considered.
