The FA is considering the possibility of changing the rules to prohibit Premier League clubs from playing friendly matches immediately after the end of the season.

According to The Times, Newcastle and Tottenham are set to play a friendly match against each other. The FA is concerned about the welfare of players, particularly following this decision by both clubs. Furthermore, this match is scheduled to take place over 10,500 miles away, in Melbourne, Australia, just three days after the conclusion of the Premier League season.

Additionally, there is concern that several players from both teams may be called up for their national teams for the UEFA European Championship and Copa America matches. Therefore, the FA may prohibit Premier League clubs from playing friendly matches immediately after the end of the season.

It is worth noting that starting from the 2024/25 season, the regulations of the FA Cup will undergo changes. According to information from the Football Association, replays at all stages of the tournament will be abolished from the next season. Everything will be decided in a single match.
