Rio de Janeiro hosted the final of the 2023 Copa Libertadores at the legendary Maracana Stadium. Argentina's Boca Juniors and Brazil's Fluminense met in the decisive match.

In the first half, the only goal was scored by German Cano - a veteran of Argentine football has never played in Europe, and now defends the colors of Brazilian Fluminense.

However, in the second half Luis Advincula restored parity in the score, and the game went into overtime.

The key factor in the match was John Kennedy. The 21-year-old Fluminense talent came on the field only in the 80th minute, scored in the 99th minute in extra time, and earned a red card in the 102nd minute. Kennedy's goal was the winning for the Brazilian club as Fluminense won the Copa Libertadores.

This is the fifth consecutive Copa won by clubs from Brazil. Previously, Flamengo and Palmeiras took the trophy twice each.

In addition to the trophy, Fluminense also won a place at the FIFA Club World Cup, which will be held in Saudi Arabia from December 11 to 22, 2023.
