The end of a golden era! Former Premier League champions put up for sale for a quarter of a billion
The era of Thai ownership at Leicester City is coming to an end.
Details: According to Sky News, holding company King Power has set a deadline of this Friday for potential buyers to submit their final bids for the club. The current owners intend to sell the team outright after 16 years in charge.
Investment bank Citi is advising on the process. The owners are reportedly hoping to receive around £225 million for the club.
The decision to sell comes amid a prolonged crisis in results. The Foxes, who sensationally won the Premier League in 2016, have suffered back-to-back relegations and are currently playing in League One — the third tier of English football.
The new investors will acquire not only the squad but also a well-developed football infrastructure, including the club's training ground and stadium.
It is worth noting that King Power bought Leicester City from Milan Mandarić in 2010 for approximately £35 million. During their 16 years at the helm, the Thai investors have put more than £420 million into the club.
