The New York Knicks have been crowned NBA champions for the 2025/26 season, ending one of the longest championship droughts in league history. In the finals, the New York squad defeated the San Antonio Spurs 4-1, lifting the championship trophy for the first time in 53 years.
The decisive Game 5 took place on the night of June 14. Under the guidance of Mike Brown, the Knicks clinched a hard-fought 94-90 victory, sealing the series. The night’s hero was point guard Jalen Brunson, who was named Finals MVP after a spectacular performance throughout the series.
It’s worth noting that this is the third championship in Knicks history. The franchise previously won NBA titles in 1970 and 1973. After that, the team spent over half a century away from the league’s summit.
