The end for Infantino? UEFA urgently discusses new candidate for FIFA presidency
Infantino has seriously angered football officials with his ideas.
Details: Today, UEFA is holding an emergency meeting with the main agenda being the search for a potential rival to Gianni Infantino in the upcoming FIFA presidential elections. According to journalist Ben Jacobs, representatives of European football are set to discuss possible candidates who could challenge the current head of the organization.
It is reported that several national football federations are ready to back PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi. Despite this, the Qatari executive continues to publicly insist that he has no intention of running in the election and harbors no such ambitions.
Nevertheless, Al-Khelaifi's supporters are not giving up on persuading him to change his stance and are hoping to convince him to enter the presidential race. Should this happen, the FIFA presidential elections could become some of the most intense in recent memory, with Gianni Infantino facing genuine competition for the first time in his bid for another term.
The next FIFA presidential elections will take place in 2027 during the organization's congress.
