The African Football Confederation has set the prize amounts for participants in the 2023 African Cup of Nations.

The tournament's winner will receive a cash prize of $7 million. Interestingly, this amount surpasses by 40% the sum that Senegal's national team received for clinching the continental championship in 2021 when the Teranga Lions earned $5 million.

The team securing the silver medal will be awarded $4 million. Meanwhile, the squads securing third and fourth places will each receive $2.5 million. The other four teams advancing to the quarterfinals will each earn $1.3 million.

The AFCON 2023 will take place from January 13th to February 11th in Ivory Coast. Twenty-four national teams will compete to determine the continent's strongest team.

Egypt holds the most prestigious title in African football, having secured victory seven times. Cameroon has been crowned champions five times, Ghana four times, and Nigeria thrice. The future tournament host, Ivory Coast, has claimed the title twice, in 1992 and 2015.
