The Libyan National Football team failed to reach the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations finals after a goalless draw against the Benin national team, knowing that the Libyan national team needed to win against the Benin national team by one or more goals while waiting for the result of Nigeria against Rwanda, which the Libyan national team needed for the Nigerian national team to win over the Rwandan national team.
But the opposite happened, the Nigerian national team received the loss from Rwanda with a clean goal and the result of the draw against Benin was useless.
The group ended with Nigeria in first place (11 points) and Benin in second place (8 points, due to the difference in results of direct matches with Rwanda), in third place Rwanda (8 points) and in last place Libya (5 points).
The last time Libya reached the finals of the African nations was in 2012, when it was only the third time in its history.
