The director of Bayern, Christoph Freund, has stated that the club is still in negotiations with defender Alphonso Davies regarding a new contract. It's too early to write off the negotiations: the club and the player may still find common ground.

"Extending the contract with Davies? It's not unlikely at all. Negotiations are ongoing, and they are good and open negotiations. Then we'll see what happens in the next few weeks," said Freund.

Earlier reports suggested that the Canadian footballer had already agreed to personal terms with Real Madrid and had turned down the opportunity to extend his contract with Bayern.

Reports in the media suggest that Bayern's management and the player are unable to agree on the salary. Davies wants to earn more, while the club allegedly offers less money.

In the current season, the 23-year-old Canadian has played 30 matches for Bayern in all competitions, scoring 1 goal and providing 3 assists. His current contract with the Munich club expires in June 2025.
