The debut will have to wait. Mbappe will not travel with Real on pre-season tour
On July 28, Real Madrid will embark on a preseason tour in the USA, but the team's superstar new signing, Kylian Mbappe, will not be traveling across the ocean with them.
According to The Athletic, the club has decided that Mbappe needs a bit more rest after the 2024 European Championship, where the French national team reached the semifinals. Real Madrid wants Mbappe to use this time to better adapt to his new environment.
Mbappe will start training at the Valdebebas base on August 7, and his debut for Real Madrid is set for August 14 in the UEFA Super Cup match against Atalanta, the Europa League winners from last season.
It is noted that Mbappe's teammates from the French national team, Ferland Mendy, Eduardo Camavinga, and Aurelien Tchouameni, might also skip the USA tour but have the option to decide independently.
In the USA, Carlo Ancelotti's team will play friendly matches against Chelsea, Barcelona, and AC Milan.
As a reminder, Kylian Mbappe joined Real Madrid from PSG as a free agent. Yesterday, 80,000 fans attended his presentation ceremony at the Santiago Bernabeu.
