The grand ambitions of the Spanish football legend to take over his boyhood club have come crashing down.

Details: According to COPE, the deal for a consortium of investors led by Sergio Ramos to acquire Sevilla has fallen through. The parties hit a dead end at the final stage of negotiations.

Initially, Ramos and his partners were extremely determined: the investors planned to buy 80% of the Andalusian club’s shares, with the potential deal valued at a hefty €400–450 million. However, everything changed after a thorough financial audit of Sevilla.

Upon discovering the true state of affairs, outstanding debts, and hidden nuances in the club’s accounts, Ramos’s group decided to slash their initial offer by more than half.

The current Sevilla management deemed these new financial terms insulting and absolutely unacceptable. The club’s executives flatly refused to hand over control of the franchise for a pittance and blocked the sale process.

Reminder: Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez has once again spoken out about the Negreira case
