Details: The former Portugal captain liked an Instagram post in which former Brazil midfielder Felipe Melo harshly criticized the way the national team’s players treat their legendary forward.

In his video address, Melo said there was a “grotesque difference” between the atmosphere in the Portugal squad and the way Argentina’s players treat Lionel Messi. According to the Brazilian, Argentina’s teammates are ready to “go to war” for their leader, whereas the Portuguese players, in his view, do not show Ronaldo the respect he deserves.

The former Brazilian midfielder also stressed that none of the current generation of Portugal players “even comes close to Cristiano” and that the legendary striker is not being given the send-off from the national team he deserves. Ronaldo’s public gesture instantly divided fans and experts amid ongoing discussions about his role and future with the national team.
