One of the giants of Turkish football, Besiktas, has found a new head coach. The press service of the club reports that now with the first team will work with the famous Portuguese coach Fernando Santos.

Details of the contract are not disclosed.

69-year-old Fernando Santos began his coaching career back in 1987. The specialist worked with all Portuguese giants: Porto, Sporting, Benfica. Santos also coached Greek top clubs: AEK, Panathinaikos and PAOK. Since 2010 he has only managed national teams: Greece, Portugal and Poland.

With his home national team, he has achieved the highest victories in his coaching career: with Portugal in 2016, Santos won the UEFA Euro 2016 and the UEFA Nations League in 2019.

Besiktas are currently sixth in the Turkish Super League and 18 points behind the leaders. This is the fourth head coach for the club this season: the Eagles sacked Şenol Güneş in October 2023, Burak Yılmaz a month later and Riza Calımbay in December.
