The CEO of the Super League said that the clubs that refused had secretly agreed to take part
Following the European Court of Justice's recognition of the blockade against the creation of the Super League as unlawful, numerous clubs have voiced opposition to participating in the tournament. Despite this, the sports development company A22, established to assist in establishing the European Super League, persists in advancing the idea of launching a new tournament.
In an interview with El Partidazo from COPE, the CEO of the European Super League, Bernd Reichart, revealed that some clubs have backed the tournament despite publicly condemning it.
"Today, many clubs have issued statements where we still perceive the long arm of a 70-year monopoly. Do we believe that UEFA pressures clubs? Give them time, and we can persuade the clubs. We aim to convince the finest clubs in Europe. I assure you, today's football is not entirely enamored or committed to the monopoly.
I spoke with many clubs today, but we haven't attempted negotiations for agreements. A new era of dialogue begins, and at some point, we will announce the teams entering the Super League. We're not here to compel clubs today to say, "I'm here". We're not here to build walls. We should unite, not divide.
Some clubs that said "no" today reached out to me to explain. They said "no" but also said, "we're with you'".
The idea of establishing the Super League continues to have the support of Real Madrid and Barcelona, as they aim to attract more backing from the giants of European football to their side.
