The captain of Real Madrid managed to evade a prolonged suspension
Real Madrid's central defender, Nacho, will miss only one game due to his expulsion, as reported by AS.
The competition committee has decided to suspend Nacho for just one La Liga match. As a result, the defender will sit out the game against Mallorca scheduled for January 3. There was a risk that the committee would impose a more severe penalty on Nacho, as this expulsion marked his second in this championship. Nacho received a two-match suspension after receiving a red card in a match against Girona in September.
Recalling the 52nd minute of the game against Alaves (1-0) in the 18th round of the Spanish championship, Nacho stepped on the shin of Semu Omorodion from behind. Initially, the match referee, Isidro Díaz de Mera, showed Nacho a yellow card, but after reviewing the video replay, he changed his decision and issued a red card to the "royal" club's defender.
With Eder Militao and David Alaba sustaining injuries in the match against Mallorca, Antonio Rudiger will be the only nominal central defender for Real Madrid. It is expected that Carlo Ancelotti will deploy midfielder Orelene Chuameni to cover this problematic position.
