“The best performers will play,” says Anthony Da Silva, unveiling his plans for the Mali Eagles
Upon taking up his post, Mali’s new head coach highlighted the high standard of quality within the Mali national team.
Appointed a few weeks ago, Anthony Da Silva has officially taken up his role as head coach of the Mali Eagles. The Portuguese tactician held his first press conference on Monday 6 July in Bamako.
Speaking to the media, Anthony Da Silva warned that reputation alone would not be enough to secure a place in the squad. Performance will therefore be the main selection criterion.
“Today, we have quality players, particularly in midfield. Not everyone can play; the best performers will play, but there are gaps in certain positions, particularly in attack. My philosophy is clear. I like teams that take the initiative, are capable of controlling the ball and dictating the pace of matches.”
