"The best decision would be to leave": Maresca clear on Chukwuemeka's future at Chelsea
Chelsea midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka has struggled to establish himself under Enzo Maresca, making just five appearances this season. It seems even the Italian coach acknowledges that the young England international’s time at Stamford Bridge might be over.
Details: Maresca stated that Chukwuemeka will not be included in the squad for the cup match against Morecambe and suggested that it would be better for the player to move elsewhere in search of regular playing time.
Quote: "Carney will not be in the squad. More or less, the situation is the same as Chilwell and Casadei. Cesare, maybe Chilwell, and Carney—they’re in the same position.
I’ve said from the start that Carney is a good player. But we have so many midfielders that it’s hard for him to get minutes in our team. Probably, the best decision for him would be to leave and get minutes elsewhere. So, he will not take part in our game," Maresca said.
Reminder: Borussia Dortmund has previously shown interest in signing Chukwuemeka.
