The Barcelona wunderkind has authored another record
Barcelona's prodigy, Lamine Yamal, in the match against Osasuna (2:0), has set yet another age-related record.
A product of La Masia, he has become the youngest footballer in history to score in a Spanish Super Cup match, achieving this feat at the age of 16 years and 182 days. The young winger made it 2:0 in injury time.
Previously held by Ansu Fati, who scored in the Super Cup for Barcelona at the age of 17 years and 70 days, this record now belongs to Yamal.
It's noteworthy that Yamal began the game on the bench but entered the field towards the end of the first half due to Rafinha's injury.
As of now, Yamal holds the following distinctions:
- The youngest goal scorer in the history of La Liga
- The youngest player in the history of La Liga
- The youngest goal scorer in the history of the Spanish Super Cup
- The youngest player in the history of the Spanish national team
- The youngest goal scorer in the history of World Cup and European Championship qualifiers
- The youngest goal scorer in the history of the Spanish Super Cup
In the current season, Yamal has played in 26 matches for Barcelona, scoring 2 goals and providing 4 assists.
Xavi's team will play against Real Madrid in the Spanish Super Cup final.
