The Barcelona star's agent is demanding a better contract for his client from the club
One of the most well-known agents in the world, Jorge Mendes, who represents Lamine Yamal, is demanding better conditions for the 17-year-old footballer from Barcelona.
According to Diario Sport, Mendes is asking the club's management to review Yamal's contract so that he earns in line with his sporting achievements.
Laporta is already aware of this and has promised to make economic efforts to satisfy all parties. One of Barcelona's priorities is to ensure that Yamal is happy and not considering leaving the club.
Yamal's first professional contract with Barcelona is for three years. It includes a condition that the contract will be extended until the summer of 2030 with a significant pay raise. However, Mendes does not want Lamine to wait three years for better terms.
Mendes also reminds Barcelona that by the age of 22, the club had several times automatically extended Messi's contract with salary increases.
In the past season, the Catalan club's wunderkind scored 7 goals and provided 10 assists in 50 matches across all competitions. Yamal also scored 1 goal and provided 4 assists at Euro 2024.
