That's it! Deco closes the door on any more Barcelona signings
Barcelona have drawn a line under the incoming side of their summer transfer business.
Details: Barcelona sporting director Deco has made the club's position clear in the final hours of the Spanish transfer window. According to his statement, the Catalans are not planning to complete any more incoming deals:
“There won't be any more arrivals.”
In practical terms, Barcelona consider their recruitment work finished even though the official LaLiga registration window remains open until 23:59 CEST on September 1.
Deco's message comes after an extremely active end to the window for the Catalan giants. Earlier on September 1, Barcelona officially confirmed the permanent signing of Brazilian striker Gabriel Jesus from Arsenal. According to the club information reported by Dailysports, the forward joined for €10 million and signed a contract running until the summer of 2029.
The sporting director's words specifically concern new arrivals and do not necessarily rule out outgoing business before the deadline. Barcelona midfielder Marc Casadó has also been linked with a possible move to Deportivo, with negotiations reported to be progressing on deadline day.
It is worth noting that Barcelona have started the new LaLiga campaign with three victories from three matches. Hansi Flick's side beat Elche 5-0, Athletic Bilbao 2-0 and Rayo Vallecano 5-2, scoring 12 goals in the process. Their next league match is away against Valencia on September 6.
