"That’s how it is": Flick refrains from criticizing Szczęsny after Benfica clash

The Benfica-Barcelona match turned out to be a challenging affair for goalkeepers, with a total of nine goals scored. Both Anatoliy Trubin and Wojciech Szczęsny made errors, and Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick shared his thoughts on his goalkeeper’s performance.

Details: At the post-match press conference, Flick emphasized that mistakes were made not only by the Polish goalkeeper but by the entire team in the first half. He praised Szczęsny’s second-half performance and underlined the team’s collective responsibility for results.

Quote: "Yes, he made mistakes, just like everyone else in the first half. I won’t single out one player’s performance. In the second half, he kept his opponent at bay. We win together, and we lose together. That’s how it is.

He’s happy with the win, and I’ll have fond memories of Lisbon. We’ll analyze everything now. Iñaki is also playing very well, and we don’t have a fixed goalkeeper for each game. We take it match by match and decide who is best suited for the next challenge. We’ll see what happens on Sunday," Flick stated.
