Celtic's goalkeeper has decided to hang up his gloves.

Details: Today, on his Instagram page, 39-year-old Danish goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel of Celtic announced his retirement from football.

The main reason behind such a dramatic decision, Kasper says, is a lingering shoulder injury that has troubled him for quite some time. After consulting with doctors, Schmeichel had no choice but to call time on his playing career.

During his illustrious career, Schmeichel played for clubs such as Manchester City, Notts County, Leeds United, Leicester City, Nice, Anderlecht, and Celtic. He also earned 120 caps for the Danish national team.

Schmeichel's crowning achievement remains the sensational Premier League title with Leicester City in the 2015/16 season, where he was one of the key players in that historic run.
