Tens of thousands of Bayern Munich fans have called for the sale of the star defender to be stopped

Earlier, we reported that Manchester United is interested in acquiring Bayern Munich defender Matthijs de Ligt. It is believed that the clubs have already started negotiations on this matter, and the Dutch player is even willing to take a pay cut for the transfer.

However, Bayern Munich fans are actively opposing this move. They have created a petition calling to stop the sale of De Ligt, describing him as a world-class defender and possibly the best in the team. The fans' petition to the club states:

"We all want Matthijs de Ligt to stay at Bayern Munich! He has proven to be a world-class defender, possibly the best in our team.

There is a reason why he was chosen as our best player in the 2022/23 season. Moreover, he is only 24 years old and has a bright future ahead of him, which he is set to use to realize his enormous potential.

Despite his young age, Matthijs is already very mature and possesses an excellent mindset, which will undoubtedly make him a leading figure in defense and possibly a contender for the captain's armband in a few years."

Currently, the petition has been signed by nearly 35,000 fans, and this number is continuously growing.

Manchester United is actively looking for a central defender. Raphael Varane has already left the team, and Harry Maguire might also depart. At Old Trafford, they consider De Ligt an excellent replacement for their players, and he is one of their top priorities.
