Ten Hag has revealed the reasons behind McTominay's impending move away from Manchester United

Quite unexpected was the departure of Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay, who will join Napoli very soon. But there are reasons for this, which were revealed by the head coach of the Red Devils Erik ten Hag.

According to the Dutchman, the reason for McTominay's departure lies in the financial fair-play rules:

‘He was so important for our team, he has been at Manchester United for more than 22 years. But unfortunately those are the rules. You have to discuss the rules to make sales and obviously homegrown players, academy players, bring more value.

It's not quite what's needed, but for all, all parts it's a good deal. As for Scott, he's happy with it. Of course for Napoli he is a very good player, but also for us,’ -- ten Hag is quoted by the Manchester Evening News website.

The Scotsman is expected to join Antonio Conte's team for £30.5m and sign a four-year contract.
