Ten Hag has explained why he extended his contract with Man United only for two years
At the beginning of July, Manchester United put an end to the Erik ten Hag contract extension drama. The head coach of the Mancunians signed an agreement until the summer of 2026, which surprised many. But the Dutchman himself remains calm.
As ten Hag himself believes, he is confident that even such a term gives him confidence in the confidence of the club's management:
"No, I wanted it myself. I think two years in football is a long time and in two years we will see what we have built on what we have achieved now."
Ten Hag smiles when asked if four years would give him more financial certainty:
"No, I don't need that. I don't need that kind of security. What matters is that we are together and that we work together, and when you work together, you experience good moments together, but also bad moments. When support is questioned in the environment, then of course that spills over into the team and is not conducive to success.
I don't need that because I have enough security in my life and in my career and I have enough faith to know that when I have a team I will succeed," ten Hag told The Irish Times.
