Tebas under fire: facing issues from Real Madrid, while La Liga loses case to Barcelona over Olmo
La Liga President Javier Tebas appears to be the only person capable of uniting two rival camps – Real Madrid and Barcelona. Both giants are causing the league boss tremendous problems.
The most high-profile conflict recently has been the case involving Barcelona midfielder Dani Olmo. A contentious administrative court rejected the employer association's request to temporarily suspend the decision of the Higher Sports Council on licensing Olmo and Pau Victor as Barcelona players until the end of their contracts.
According to As, this matter will now be resolved in other courts and through a completely different procedure with longer timelines than the decision of the Higher Sports Council. Therefore, Barcelona is very likely to finish the season with their players.
Meanwhile, Real Madrid's grievances are specifically directed at Tebas himself, and they are also being addressed through the Higher Sports Council, or more precisely, its second instance. The "Merengues" complained about Tebas's tweets, in which he breached the confidentiality of an anonymous survey in 2023.
The consequences for the La Liga president could be severe: a fine ranging from three to 30 thousand, public censure, suspension from work for two to 15 years, and/or dismissal.
Incidentally, Barcelona also had similar grievances against Tebas when La Liga issued a statement about reducing the salary cap of the Catalan club. At that time, "Blaugrana" also intended to file a complaint, but it did not come to that as the league retracted its statement.
