Second heavy defeat for Tanzania at the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup
The Tanzanian women’s team are struggling in this FIFA World Cup, which is being held in Poland.
Following their 4-1 defeat to Brazil in their opening Group B match, Tanzania were unable to turn things round on Tuesday against England.
The Tanzanian women suffered another heavy defeat on the matchday 2 of the tournament. The English side dictated the pace of the game to finish with a 5-1 victory.
Princesse Ademiluyi opened the scoring for England in the 9th minute to make it 1–0, before Rachel Maltby scored a hat-trick. She found the net in the 15th minute to make it 2–0, in the 43rd minute to take the score to 3–0, and in the 45+5th minute to make it 4–0 before half-time.
Jamila Rajabu Mnunduka pulled one back for Tanzania in the 65th minute to make it 4-1. But England were not done yet. Jessie Gale sealed her side’s victory with a fifth goal in the 80th minute, making it 5-1.
With this second defeat in Group B, Tanzania can already say goodbye to the competition, in which they are taking part for the first time in their history.
