Tampa Bay Sun FC and local entrepreneur Darryl Shaw have unveiled plans for a waterfront soccer-specific stadium at Ybor Harbor, according to USLSoccer.com. Set to seat 15,000 fans, the proposed venue would be one of the world’s first stadiums designed specifically for a women’s professional soccer team.

The stadium would anchor a sweeping 33-acre mixed-use development, which includes residences, retail, hotels, restaurants, and office towers. It would also house the headquarters of the United Soccer League, further cementing Tampa’s role as a hub for North American soccer.

“This stadium will be a cornerstone for Ybor City’s revitalization,” said Shaw, majority owner of the Sun and lead developer of Ybor Harbor. USL CEO Alec Papadakis added that the project mirrors the league’s momentum and commitment to growing women’s soccer.

Tampa Bay Sun FC debuted in 2024 and capped its inaugural season with a 1-0 extra-time win over Fort Lauderdale United in front of a sold-out Riverfront Stadium. The Beck Group-designed stadium is still in early planning stages, with no timeline or cost yet defined, but its vision promises to elevate women’s sports and community growth alike.
