Swiatek will miss the tournament in Japan for "personal reasons"
World No. 1 Iga Świątek has announced her withdrawal from yet another tournament, marking her third in a week. In addition to skipping the tournaments in Beijing and Seoul, she has now added the Tokyo tournament, which will take place from October 21 to 27, to her list of absences.
Details: According to ESPN, the Polish tennis star will miss almost the entire Asian tour due to "personal reasons."
Reminder: Earlier, Świątek's PR manager, Paula Wolecka, told Polish media that the world No. 1 will not skip the entire Asian series and is expected to return at the WTA 1000 hardcourt tournament in Wuhan, which starts on October 7.
Świątek’s most recent appearance was at the US Open, where she was defeated by Jessica Pegula in the quarterfinals.
