Swansea agree loan deal for Manchester City winger Monga

Swansea City have reportedly reached an agreement to sign Manchester City winger Jeremy Monga on loan. The move is designed to give one of City’s most promising young players regular senior football.

Details: Fabrizio Romano reports that Monga has accepted the loan move, which has been approved by Manchester City and Enzo Maresca. The deal contains no option to buy, and the winger is due back at City in June 2027.

Monga only joined Manchester City from Leicester City earlier this summer, but the club have moved quickly to arrange a development loan. The 17-year-old winger arrives at Swansea after already building an impressive reputation in English football. He became one of Leicester’s youngest senior players and later earned a move to the Etihad after attracting interest from several leading clubs. Manchester City see the Championship as a valuable environment for the teenager’s next step. Swansea can offer the winger competitive matches, a clear role and the opportunity to handle the physical demands of senior football over a full campaign. The deal has been described as an ideal destination by Maresca, with City believing that Monga can continue his progress in Wales. Importantly, there is no purchase clause in the agreement. That condition protects Manchester City’s long-term plans for the player and confirms that the club expect him to return after the loan. Swansea will therefore benefit from Monga’s quality for one season, while City retain full control of his future. The formal announcement is now expected once the final paperwork is completed.

It’s worth noting that Monga is still only 17 and has already played senior football in both the Premier League and the Championship. A productive season at Swansea could place him in a stronger position to compete for opportunities at Manchester City next summer.
