Suspension to continue. World Athletics extends ban on Russians and Belarusians
The Russian and Belarusian teams have been suspended from competitions under the auspices of World Athletics since 2022, and this decision remains in effect.
Details: As announced at the organization's official briefing, the suspension of athletes from these countries will be extended indefinitely.
Quote: "The council considers the sanctions appropriate and sees no need to change, supplement, or review them unless the current circumstances worsen or a peaceful agreement is reached," said World Athletics President Sebastian Coe.
Recall: Previously, we reported that one of the main topics in hockey remains the issue of admitting the Russian and Belarusian teams to international tournaments. It is already known that this will not happen for at least the next year.
According to the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF), the 2025/26 season will proceed without the participation of these teams.
