FIFA has delivered its verdict.

Details: Today it was announced that 36-year-old African international midfielder Themba Zwane has been handed a three-match suspension after being sent off with a straight red card during the World Cup opener against Mexico.

In that match, Zwane came on in the 64th minute to replace Jayden Adams, but just twenty minutes later, in the 84th minute, he was shown a red card for a reckless elbow to an opponent.

As a result, if Bafana Bafana fail to overcome the Czech Republic, they risk an early exit from the tournament—and the match against Mexico could be Zwane's last appearance at this World Cup.

Reminder: Fair dismissals? Three red cards shown in the World Cup opener – a historic first
