Surprise: Percy Tau reveals what Kaizer Chiefs would have to pay to sign him!
Veteran South African international striker Percy Tau has revealed the price South African giants Kaizer Chiefs must pay to sign him for next season.
The 31-year-old striker ended his short stint in the Qatar Stars League with Qatar SC after joining the Qatari side on a short-term deal in January following his departure from Al Ahly.
These developments have Tau evaluating his 2025/26 season prospects. A PSL comeback might prove strategic for the ex-Mamelodi Sundowns and Al Ahly forward. It presents an opportunity to reignite his career following recent struggles while preparing effectively for Morocco's 2025 AFCON.
What Percy Tau had to say about his potential move to Kaizer Chiefs
Tau has specified his expected monthly earnings for a possible PSL comeback, revealing he'd accept R450,000 from Kaizer Chiefs or other clubs. Speaking with Robert Marawa on Radio 94.7, Tau was questioned about his salary demands for joining Amakhosi.
Marawa directly proposed: "As Kaizer Motaung, I offer R450,000 monthly. Do you agree?"
After brief consideration, Tau responded: "For what duration?"
"Two years plus option," Marawa clarified.
"Acceptable," Tau confirmed, agreeing to both terms.
The forward emphasized his openness beyond just Sundowns, Chiefs and Pirates: "I'll evaluate all offers. Multiple factors matter - age, contract length, family."
Notably, Tau revealed his childhood allegiance: "Chiefs were my boyhood club. Their offer would get serious consideration. But Sundowns, where I achieved success, remain an option too. If they don't bid while Chiefs do, that's their choice, not mine."
