Novak Djokovic continues to make history at the ATP 500 tournament in Beijing. In a dramatic quarterfinal clash, the Serb defeated Alexander Zverev 4-6, 6-4, 6-4 to secure a unique achievement.
For Djokovic, this was already his 32nd consecutive victory at the China Open. The Serb remains unbeaten at the tournament since making his debut in Beijing, with his record now standing at 32-0.
According to Opta, Djokovic now holds the outright record for the longest winning streak by a player from their first match at a single ATP-level event. The previous record belonged to Rafael Nadal, who won 31 consecutive matches at Roland Garros, beginning with his tournament debut.

At 38, Djokovic has surpassed one of the records held by his celebrated rival and continued his impressive run in the Chinese capital. The match against Zverev was far from straightforward for the Serb: he lost the opening set but then managed to turn the tide and win the next two.
